Eat These 5 Every Day for Super Health and Disease Protection!

Each of these substances has been shown to be super cancer-fighting, heart healthy, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory. They are potent, so a little goes a long way.

#1 Broccoli Sprouts. According to Dr. Paul Talalay, founder of the Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Chemoprotection Center at the John Hopkins University School of Medicine, “Three-day-old broccoli sprouts consistently contain 20 to 50 times the amount of chemoprotective compounds found in mature broccoli heads and may offer a simple, dietary means of chemically reducing cancer risk.”

Back in 1991, Dr. Talalay “broke the code” on broccoli sprouts. All cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage contain a substance called Sulforaphane, which Talalay found can kill cancer cells by boosting certain detoxification enzymes.

Consuming broccoli sprouts on a regular basis is a great way to help prevent cancer. Sulphoraphane has also been shown to be effective in “inhibit[ing] pancreatic tumor-initiating cells and breast cancer stem cells” in both in vivo and in vitro studies, according to a 2011 University of Michigan report.

Sulforaphane from broccoli sprouts in super-concentrated supplement form is available as well. Some individuals use these products, in conjunction with other modalities and under the guidance of a qualified health professional, as part of their natural cancer healing protocol.

#2 Green Tea. Tea is the most consumed beverage on the planet besides water, but most of what is consumed is “black” tea. Green tea accounts for only about 20% of world consumption. Yet, those that do drink green tea daily definitely have the upper hand when it comes to health.

Green tea is simply Camellia sinensis that has not been processed (or “oxidized”) as much as black tea. Therefore, it contains high amounts of phytonutrients, including antioxidants and polyphenols. Green tea also contains a substance called Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a powerful anti-inflammatory. It has known anti-cancer effects, can help to regulate body temperature, improves heart health, and can improve mental health. In ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, green tea was used to control bleeding and heal wounds, as well as aid in digestion.

Recent studies have connected EGCG to liver detoxification and help with type 2 diabetes. A 2006 report published in the Journal of the American Medical Association tracked 40,000 Japanese green tea drinkers for about ten years. They found that drinking 5 or more cups of green tea a day was responsible for reduced mortality overall when compared to those who drank less than one cup per day.

And here is a tip: If you want the most benefits from green tea, consider consuming matcha green tea in powder form. According to a 2003 study published by the University of Colorado, matcha contains almost 140 times more Epigallocatechin gallate, or EGCG, than regular green tea! #3 Blueberries. If you have a sweet tooth, you are going to love learning about blueberries. First of all, for all their sweetness, blueberries don’t really contain that much sugar. All the fructose that is in each berry is also bundled up with tons of fiber, so it gets absorbed slower in the system.

The most important benefits of blueberries have to do with how they can protect your immune system. A handful of blueberries contains lots of vitamins K and C as well as manganese, copper, the phytonutrient anthocyanin, and that all-important fiber already mentioned. They also contain super antioxidants resveratrol and the phytonutrient ptesrostilbebe which, according to a 2013 study by the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University, work together with vitamin D to boost the expression of CAMP (cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide). CAMP is a gene-level substance that plays a huge role in immune system function.

Blueberries also have verified anti-cancer effects, including helping to up the production of Natural Killer (NK) cells and stopping the growth of stem cells. A 2014 clinical trial by Appalachian State University found that after just six weeks, “sedentary men and women ages 18-50” had significantly higher levels of NK cells (a type of white blood cell). Other studies have shown that the substance pterostilbene, found in the phytonutrient resveratrol, was able to reverse cancer malignancy caused by radiation.

Make sure that the blueberries you eat are always organic. Blueberries score #14 on the Environmental Working Group’s “Dirty Dozen” list for 2016, which means heavy pesticides are used on commercial varieties while they are growing.

#4 Frankincense. The ancients knew what modern medicine is just now beginning to comprehend about essential oils. They literally are the “essence” of any herb, root, flower or plant. They are aromatic and contain potent healing phytonutrients.

Similar to blueberries, a 2011 study published in Phytotherapy Research found that 1-10mg of frankincense administered orally stimulated the immune system, increased white blood cell count and decreased inflammation. Frankincense has been shown to contain acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid (or AKBA, for short), a cancer-killing substance in the tree resin. Some studies have also discovered that frankincense can be effective on certain kinds of chemo-resistant breast and ovarian cancers as well.
